Mojotic Festival 2026 — Sestri Levante’s Indie Music Summer
July 15, 2026 – August 31, 2026
While Liguria is famous for its cultural festivals and food sagre, the Mojotic Festival in Sestri Levante offers something different: a summer-long programme of independent, alternative, and underground music that has quietly built a loyal following since its inception. Running through July and August 2026, the festival brings emerging and established artists to one of the most beautiful settings on the Riviera di Levante.
The Mojotic Vibe
Mojotic is the antithesis of the mega-festival. It’s intimate, eclectic, and deeply rooted in the local community, yet its programming reaches far beyond Italy’s borders. Past editions have featured international indie acts alongside the best of the Italian alternative scene, with genres spanning folk, electronica, rock, jazz, and world music.
The festival takes place across multiple venues in and around Sestri Levante, including outdoor spaces, the historic centre, and beachside locations. The ever-changing backdrop — from a medieval piazzetta to a stage with the Ligurian Sea as its backdrop — is as much a part of the experience as the music itself.
Signature Event: Silent Disco in the Bay of Silence
The undisputed highlight of the Mojotic calendar is “Shhh, La Silent Disco in Baia del Silenzio,” held on the first Friday of August (August 7, 2026). Hundreds of participants don wireless headphones and dance on the beach of the Bay of Silence — one of Italy’s most photographed coves — with multiple DJ channels battling for listeners. To an outsider walking past, it’s a surreal scene of people dancing in near-silence under the stars. To participants, it’s pure joy.
The Silent Disco is legendary among locals and returning visitors. The Bay of Silence, with its pastel-coloured buildings framing the water and the tower of the Chiesa di San Nicolò watching from above, provides a setting that no indoor club can match.
