Spettacolo Pirotecnico di Savona 2026 — Summer Fireworks Over the Ligurian Sea

Every year on the last Saturday of July, the city of Savona puts on one of the Ligurian Riviera’s most spectacular summer events: the Spettacolo Pirotecnico — a large-scale fireworks display choreographed to music, launched over the waters of the Ligurian Sea. In 2026, the show takes place on Saturday, July 25.

This isn’t just a quick burst of fireworks. The Savona show is a full-length production — typically 30–40 minutes of synchronized pyrotechnics set to an orchestral soundtrack, reflected in the calm summer waters of the Golfo di Savona. Families spread blankets along the Lungomare, children wave sparklers, and the whole city turns out for what has become one of the most beloved dates on the Ligurian summer calendar.

Where to Watch the Savona Fireworks

The best viewing points are along the Lungomare Giacomo Matteotti, the wide seafront promenade that stretches from the Priamar Fortress to the Torretta. Arrive early — by 21:00 the best spots are already claimed. Locals know to bring folding chairs and a picnic. For a more elevated view, the terrace of the Priamar Fortress (free entry, open until late) offers a panoramic perspective, though the fortress fills up fast on fireworks night.

If you’re coming from outside Savona, the city is well-connected by train: regular services from Genoa (40–50 minutes) and the western Riviera (Sanremo, Imperia) run until late. The Savona train station is a 10-minute walk from the Lungomare. If driving, park in the Porto area or near the Letimbro riverbed and walk to the seafront — the streets around the Lungomare close to traffic from 19:00.

Before the Fireworks: What to Do in Savona

Make an afternoon of it. Wander the medieval carruggi (narrow lanes) of the old town, visit the Cappella Sistina di Savona (the city’s own, lesser-known Sistine Chapel, built by Pope Sixtus IV), and climb the Priamar Fortress for sea views. Grab a pre-fireworks dinner at one of the trattorias on Via Pia or in the old port — trofie al pesto and farinata are the local must-tries. After the fireworks, the bars along the port stay open late for a post-show spritz.
